Gildo Minichiello
An Italian Cowboy Chasing the American Dream
Cutting Horse Trainer | Three Time NCHA Open World Finals Qualifier | NCHA Certified Judge
Meet the TrainerGrowing up in Southern Italy, Gildo Minichiello didn't grow up around horses, but he was captivated by them from an early age.
Through grit, determination, and a relentless pursuit of excellence, he followed that passion all the way to Weatherford, Texas, where today he trains and shows elite cutting horses for clients from around the world. At just 19 years old, Gildo partnered with his nonna to purchase his first horse and began the long journey of turning passion into a profession. Determined to learn, he spent years working around horses, seeking out mentors, and embracing every opportunity to improve his horsemanship. What started as a dream in a small town in Southern Italy eventually led him across the Atlantic in pursuit of a career in the cutting horse industry.
After arriving in the United States without speaking English, Gildo worked tirelessly to build a future in the sport he loved. Through hard work, perseverance, and guidance from some of the industry's most respected horsemen, he established himself as one of the sport's rising professionals. In 2024, he became the first European to qualify for the NCHA World Finals, a milestone that reflected years of dedication to both horses and the craft of training them. Today, Gildo continues to help horses and riders reach their full potential while living the dream he once imagined from thousands of miles away.
